However, once purchased by Gibson in , a few bolt-on models were produced such as the Killer-B with the “B” in the name standing for “bolt-on” as well as the Growler Basses.

The tuners were the same as the Teisco Spectrum 5 of that period, and the Neck-plate had the L shaped pickup patent number stamped on it.
The zero fret and thin neck is reminiscent of a Mosrite. Soon Greco would move toward copying Fender and Gibson products, becoming a major brand in the so-called “Lawsuit” copy era, along with Tokai and the Ibanez company, which became the subject of legal action by Gibson. Is anyone able to date my Epiphone Sheraton? The serial number is and it’s located on a stick-on strip on the back of the headstock. The front of the headstock has “Epiphone by Gibson” at the top and the Epiphone logo at the bottom. Dont know a lot about these numbers so take that with a pinch of salt, you could try posting your question here: Anyone else want to chip in? Hi, I have such an Epiphone, serial number begining with 88 and I cannot find when it was made either! I would guess the guitar is either a copy or eipiphone had samples made by prospective suppliers in the late eighties.
Due to the 88 at the front I think it might be an early sample from the company whom started manufacture in the 90’s for Epiphone. There is one extra digit to many to show it as being in the Gibson series. Except the extra digit is a zero behind the Do the numbers 88 and the last number 5 on your guitar label have a bolder appearance? My guitar is a beautiful natural maple front and sides with a big lump of pinkish wood inside and sounds absolutely great.
Hope you can find out more about these guitars.

Dating your Electra: Matsumoku made guitars have serial number in which the first one or two digits represent the year of manufacture. Trem is best I’ve ever heard. Sweetest low volume clean sounds with p s volume control set higher to “m” on volume control gives perfect small stage volume, with a fulldrive 2 or other 2 channel pedal it’s all the rig an experienced player needs. Jazz tones thru classic or modern rock. Possibly one of the best kept secrets. Don’t agree with the princeton comparisons, and circut is better imho than delux.
A perfect 10, if you have been around and know what good tone is. Fred Duffer At 14 to 18 watts it is not really very loud but what a tone. Like the Fender tweeds it is easiest to use the guitar volume to to control the degree of overdrive.

Damn, it was so inexpensive that I could almost afford to smash it on stage! But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. This allowed some elbowroom for Gibson and Fender to rethink and retool their operations to fortify their position in the market.
