August, by plesorgen My wife and I did this trail on a weekday in August. We started in parking lot D, then rode north to the lighthouse, and then we turned around and continued to ride into Sea Bright. The trail was great, open, and pretty empty on a weekday. I would imagine it is packed on the weekends, especially in summer.
It is flat, for the most part open, and there are rest rooms along the way. We had lunch in Sea Bright, and then returned to our car.

Use fresh rather then frozen Bunker if you can get it. When chumming be sure not to be too generous or skimpy with the chum. It’s a good idea to release chum at 2 to 3 minute intervals to keep a consistent chum slick and hold fish. Too much chum and the fish will hang back for the easy meal and not bother to move up into the slick for your baits.
Too little chum and your not going to hold or attract fish. Trolling speed is not too critical for bluefish. When trolling bunker spoons slow it down until you see your pole pulsing in an erratic side to side and bobbing motion. When trolling other lures like tubes, jigs, and umbrella rigs try and stay close to the bottom without hanging up. Pay line out until you feel contact with the bottom and then reel in just enough line to keep your lure from hanging bottom.
If you have a fish finder and can determine a consistent depth where your marking fish try and keep the lures at that depth. A usual rule of thumb for wire line is 10 feet of line usually equates to 1 foot of depth. As an example you would let out 90 feet of wire line if you want your lures to run at 9 feet.

New Jersey New Jersey has some of the most popular beaches in the nation – despite the fact that few people from out-of-state travel long distances to get there. Jersey residents love and regularly visit their beaches. The northern New Jersey beaches are mainland beaches except for the exceptionally long hook of sand that bends into lower New York Harbor, known as Sandy Hook.
Many people assume that the sand from New Jersey came from Long Island, which had earlier drifted down from Maine. This is totally incorrect as no sand grains can cross the deep valley of the drowned Hudson River outer New York Harbor ; indeed, divers report a massive buildup of sand and debris in this submarine canyon. Likewise, no sand from the southern end of New Jersey Cape May can travel across the wide mouth of Delaware Bay to reach Lewes, Delaware because of the deep water but you can make the pleasurable journey on the ocean-going ferry boats.

Frank from the Vitamin Sea wrote in an email. Trip after trip was weathered out aboard, and when weather was fishable, it was still borderline. A trip Saturday picked up more than 60 stripers, but all throwbacks. Jigging for stripers has been good on the ocean, mostly for throwbacks, but some keepers and bonus-sized mixed in. Fishing for stripers on Raritan Bay never developed this season, not yet, at least. Open-boat trips will fish for stripers whenever no charter is booked and wind is fishable.

Sandy Hook Lighthouse in Photograph courtesy Library of Congress Lotteries are apparently not a recent invention as one was proposed to raise funds to acquire land on Sandy Hook and to pay for construction of the lighthouse.
The winning numbers were published in the October 5, edition of the New York Mercury. The profit from the first lottery proved inadequate for the entire project, but it did at least fund the purchase of four acres on Sandy Hook from Esik and Richard Hartshorne.
